We Are People – the new album
Our fifth full-length studio album, ‘We Are People’, is released today and we’re enormously proud to share it with the world. It’s our first release to be dominated by original songs and tunes. Our signature sound is unchanged – a mix of high-octane folk tunes, heavy riffs, and a touch of glam and funk – but the subject matter includes Brexit, the cost-of-living crisis, the pandemic and populism.
There are lots of different ways to define folk music. One is “music of the people” and that definition is pertinent here. For this album, we wanted our music to reflect real-lived experiences – our own and those of people we’d spoken to – as we navigate these uncertain times. On this journey, we came to the conclusion that there is more that unites us than divides us: we are people.
The album has already received critical acclaim. RnR Magazine rated the album 5-stars, saying, “The album feels like a coming-of-age for Blackbeard’s Tea Party, fully finding their own voice.” Another 5-star review, this time from the website Let It Rock, said, “We Are People is universally relatable and infectious to boot.”
‘We Are People’ is available to buy on CD, Vinyl or digital download. It’s also streaming everywhere:
