PADDY

Paddy’s musical career started when his year 3 teacher rigged the ‘name out of the hat’ system so Paddy could learn the violin. However, he quickly decided violin was too high-pitched and transitioned to the mellower, cooler Viola. Eventually Paddy picked up the greatest, lowest instrument of all, Bass. Thus began years of playing in orchestras, Jazz groups and Indie bands. This all ended when he enrolled on a music tech course that turned out to be an experimental composition course with some mic placement on the side. During his time at University making weird noises he stumbled into the Folk-rock monstrosity ‘Joe Broughton’s Conservatoire Folk Ensemble’. Through the ‘folk ensemble’ he met the friends who would come to form ‘Punch The Sky’. Years passed and Paddy toured with Punch The Sky and made experimental music until a chance encounter where Punch The Sky supported BTP changed his fate. Paddy seized his chance and became the new shiny bass player. To this day some say he still makes experimental music and plays with Punch The Sky. But none of that matters now. For now he is a low-note slinging, no good bass playing, deviously chord writing member of Blackbeard’s Tea Party!
